After he graduated with an award of distinction from the University of Edinburgh in 2012, he moved to London and started working for a company in the ad tech industry. During his studies, Ivan developed an interest in technologies that help in dealing with a large amount of data. His professional career has given him the chance to work with cutting edge big data technologies on a daily basis. Some of the interesting projects that Ivan has worked on include a large scale real-time predictive analytics engine and batch processing solutions. He has used Scala in all of these projects in combination with technologies and libraries such as Spark, Hadoop, Scalding, Cassandra, Kafka, and so on, as well as other JVM languages such as Java.
