I am 3 chapters in and can't understand how this has good reviews. There are sentences that aren't complete which is not the biggest issue. The book starts off talking about machine learning before getting into data analysis which all is a bit too much for a beginner's guide. I have taken other programming courses in the past and none of them jump right into the deep end of the pool like this book. The fact that the book references images that aren't in the book is just crazy. How does a book (I have paperback) get published like this? And it says to load a CSV file into python yet doesn't say where to get the file from or how to load it into python. Again this book says it's a beginner's guide so where is the explanation on how to do these things? I realize I can Google how to do all these things but then what is the point of this book? Waste of money or maybe a good fire if I get too cold.
Although there are some potentially useful concepts in this book, it is in places impossible to understand because the author apparently has little understanding of grammar and syntax, and invents words (what does "performant" mean, for example). By writing in a stream-of-consciousness, barely-literate fashion, the author shows outright disrespect for the reader and, worst, demonstrates that he or she simply doesn't care. Sometimes I have to map out sentences, try to deconstruct the gibberish, and then guess as to what the author was trying to say. After wading through three sections of this book, I came to suspect that the author has no concept of programming in general, or Python in particular, and is obfuscating a lack of technical knowledge with completely-nonsensical writing. I had to abandon reading this. It was a waste of my time.
When it deals with a subject, it not only tells you how things work but also why they work that way. It helped me gain a deeper understanding of the language. It also helped me think about how to structure my code. The examples and case studies are very broad in terms of practical coverage and they themselves are good learning materials as well. This is a real book well worth the money, unlike some other books out there which in some cases are simply copy and paste from different sources.
The grammar in this book is atrocious. Sometimes sentences make no sense at all and I was left scratching my head trying to piece it together. I am positive large parts of the book were just copy and paste from a website trying to sell products.
The examples and case studies are very broad in terms of practical coverage and they themselves are good learning materials as well. This is a real book well worth the money, unlike some other books out there which in some cases are simply copy and paste from different sources. It is written simply enough for him to understand, but still covers the important things. Glad I bought it.
